WELCOME! New Practitioner Nicole Mandallaz!
Hi everyone! My name is Nicole Mandallaz, and I’m the founder of Meta Skin Studio and Meta Skincare products. I’ve been a licensed esthetician for more than twelve years, working as a national trainer for chemical peels by a group of dermatologists at the University of Miami; working in Los Angeles, and then resort spas out in Palm Springs. I first opened Meta Skin Studio in 2017 in Palm Springs. My dream concept: I planned for it to be a workshop – to holistically and clinically transform people’s skin in a way that rivalled botox and other invasive treatments such as laser and IPL. My biggest unique attribute at the time was also being the region’s first acne specialist.
Soon after opening, I realized in order to achieve the best results for clients, I had been cherry picking products for home use from at least seven different product lines to satisfy my needs. I knew I could do better, so I created my own line of corrective homecare products, Meta Skincare.
Since moving out to Palm Springs from Los Angeles, my husband and I always loved riding our motorcycle through Borrego Springs, and staying a night or two in town in between visiting my parents in San Diego. We purchased a home here last December thinking it would be an investment property, but as we came more frequently to work on the house, we realized we didn’t want to live anywhere else but here. This special community and beautiful land has captured our hearts and brought us peace and serenity through the chaos of the recent pandemic, so I feel incredibly privileged to be moving Meta Skin Studio here and be able to have more of a retail space.
In my new location at The Mall, I will be offering the same corrective skincare treatments as I did in Palm Springs, selling my Meta Skincare brand, and I will also be bringing in high end sun protection products. I’ll be carrying to start: Coola brand Sunscreen sprays, mineral spf 30 lip balm, tinted mineral SPF, mineral SPF Cosmetics, and Wallaroo UPF 50 hats which have great modern fashion styles yet are also practical for desert living. I’m also always open to listening to what the community wants, so if there’s a product or brand of skincare or makeup you would like to see offered let’s talk and maybe I can bring it in!
As a thank you to this community that has captured my heart I am also working on a line of body care such as an additional face and body sunscreen, luxe body butter, and antioxidant after sun gel that I’m calling Borrego Dreams by Meta Skincare. I plan to donate 15% of all proceeds from sales of Borrego Dreams products to a local charity. I’m still on the fence of which one I will donate to as I research this, so I hope that as I meet people in the community and make new clients here, you all can help me decide where the funds would best be served to.

In a continuing quest to improve and promote the economic vitality of Borrego Springs in general and the businesses at The Mall and The Center in particular, Jim Wermers, the owner of these two facilities initiated a newsletter in 2017 to forward this plan. It is the hope that this publication, along with creative advertising by the Center/Mall businesses and this up-datable website, will provide added incentive for Borrego Springs residents, both year-round and seasonal, as well as passing visitors to frequent these facilities as a matter of course.
Graphics You Can Trust has developed this website for the Center/Mall News, in an added quest to promote these merchants as a unified collection of unique shops & services. Find fresh announcements posted under the BULLETIN BOARD tab. Under the MERCHANTS tab, all participating merchants can be found ... just click on a logo and you will be taken to their website!
